Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Inkwell, Northeastern U.S. origin, second quarter 19th century, cylindrical form with coggled edge, central ink hole, and one quill hole, decorated around the central hole with daubs of cobalt and around the edge with vertical slashes of cobalt. Salt residue to base area and shoulder. A few very minor chips to top edge. A thin, circular crack around underside with a short crack extending off from it onto base area of inkwell. Bottom edge with a small in-the-firing chip and minor nick. Diam. 3 3/8" ; H 1 3/4".
