Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Incised Floral Decoration, Stamped "I. SEYMOUR / TROY," NY State origin, circa 1830, ovoid, jug-form cooler with circular opening at base, two heavily-ribbed, open handles, and rounded spout, decorated with an incised flowering plant below the cobalt-highlighted maker's mark. Desirable form. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced Illinois collection. Bunghole lost prior to firing and glazed over. Otherwise excellent condition. A chip, some clay residue, and an in-the-firing surface fissure to proper right handle. Minor staining. H 15 3/4".
