Very Rare One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "C.W. THOMPSON / POKEEPSIE," Poughkeepsie, NY origin, circa 1825, ovoid jar with flared collar and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with curved-stemmed floral motif. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Heavy chipping to rim. A 4 1/2" crack from rim on reverse. A thin, diagonal 6" crack from rim on front. A small in-the-firing ping to surface on proper right side of jar that has been filled. H 9 1/2".
