Small-Sized Newburgh, NY Stoneware Advertising Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, probably Jacob Caire, Poughkeepsie, NY, mid 19th century, bowl-shaped, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug hqandles, featuring the impressed and cobalt-highlighted advertising, "WM COLVILL / DEALER IN DRY GOODS & GROCERIES / NO 112 WATER ST NEWBURGH." Brush-decorated below with a leafy stem bearing a fan-shaped blossom. A restored 1 1/2" flake to exterior edge of rim on proper right side of jar. A 1 3/8" in-the-making flake along bottom edge of jar. Minor wear to proper right handle. Light wear to edge of proper left handle. H 6 1/4" ; Diam. 7 1/8".
