Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "S,L, PEWTRESS & CO / FAIR HAVEN CONN", circa 1870, cylindrical jug with wide spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a crested parrot perched on a branch. Light cobalt highlight to maker's mark. An unusual size for this decoration, featuring bold, vibrant cobalt. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
