Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Drape Decoration, attributed to Clarkson Crolius, Sr., Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and semi-squared rim, brush-decorated around the shoulder with a continuous scalloped drape motif. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. Very minor chipping to base, most or all of which occurred in the firing. An in-the-firing iron ping to midsection. A minor in-the-firing ping to rim. H 9".
