Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Ravenswood, WV Advertising, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "E.R. McGUGIN, / STOVES, / TINWARE / & C. / RAVENSWOOD. W.VA." Freehand stripes and accents above. Base with stenciled "2" flanked by flourishes between two freehand stripes. Provenance: From a fifty-year West Virginia collection. A 3/4" chip to interior of rim. A 3/4" in-the-firing chip at base. Light salt glaze to surface. H 11 3/4".
