Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Ravenswood, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "W.G. WATTS. / GENERAL MERCHANDISE / RAVENSWOOD. W. VA.," surrounding a stenciled flourish. Freehand stripe decoration above and below. Provenance: From a fifty-year West Virginia collection. Some in-the-firing dryness to surface. Areas of staining. A 1" in-the-firing surface line on underside, continuing 1 1/4" up base, not visible on interior. H 9 1/2".
