Twelve-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Eagle Motif, Stenciled "WILLIAMS AND REPPERT, / GREENSBORO, PA," circa 1885, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a circular stenciled design of a Federal eagle's bust, surrounded by arched vine-like stenciling and the stenciled maker's mark of Williams and Reppert. Further decorated above with freehand stripes and two stenciled tulip motifs. Base decorated with a freehand "12," flanked by flourishes and underscored by freehand stripes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Some light, scattered exfoliation to base and midsection on front. A minor chip to proper left handle. Some in-the-firing residue to proper right side of jar.
