Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Double Bird Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1870, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crossed, crested birds perched on a forked tree branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 1" chipped section to front of proper right handle. Two chips to opposite handle. A small in-the-firing iron ping near base on front. Shallow rim chips. A minor chip to underside at bottom edge. Water glass staining to interior. H 10 1/4".
