Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, American, 19th century, a three-gallon crock with cobalt peacock decoration, stamped "I. SEYMOUR. TROY", New York State origin, circa 1840. Crock decorated with a slip-trailed design of a peacock with turned head, ornate crest, and long tail, perched on a stylized branch, flanked by flourishes; and a two-gallon jar with floral decoration, stamped "F. H. COWDEN / HARRISBURG." Seymour crock with several long cracks from rim. Losses to one handle, some of which is glazed-over. Rim chips. A small in-the-firing chip to shoulder on front. Shallow chips to underside. Cowden jar with rim chips, firing flaws, and light fry to cobalt. H (of tallest) 9 3/4".
