Three Manganese-Decorated Redware Flowerpots, Mid-Atlantic origin, circa 1880, all with flare-rimmed form and tooled shoulder, lead-glazed surface, and sponged manganese decoration. One with coved rim and finely-tooled saucer, stamped "W. SMITH / WOMELSDORF," PA origin, other two examples with crimped rims, one attributed to Anthony Bacher at the Big Hunting Creek Pottery, Mechanicstown (now Thurmont), MD. Smith example with a restored crack from rim. A restored 2" section of rim. Rim and saucer chips. A 2 1/4" diagonal hairline from rim. Crimped rim examples both with wear and chipping to rim. Thurmont example with loss to rim and scattered glaze loss. H (of tallest) 7 1/4".
