Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with a series of conjoined foliate and dashed, carrot-shaped floral motifs with spotted, circular design at center. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. An approximately 8 1/4" Y-shaped crack from shoulder on front. A minor flake to interior of spout. H 16 1/2".
