Glazed Redware Figure of a Standing Dog with Basket, PA origin, possibly Bell Family, Waynesboro, PA, circa 1850-1880, hand-modeled figure of a standing dog carrying a basket of apples in its mouth, detailed with incised long hair to the head and curly coat throughout the body. Impressed details to basket and collar. Surface covered in a brown lead-and-manganese glaze. This figure is closely-related in form and basket construction to examples firmly established as Bell products from Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. A 1/2" reglued section to front of one foot. Chip to same foot. Figure appears to have originally been attached to a base. L 5 1/2" ; H 5".
