Glazed Redware Stew Pot with Manganese Decoration, attributed to William Pecker, Merrimacport, MA, late 18th or early 19th century, ovoid form with footed base, flared rim, and applied handle, decorated throughout with large, haphazardly-brushed manganese slashes under a clear lead glaze. A crack from rim on front and reverse, each measuring approximately 4". The crack on the reverse includes a 3/4" chip at the shoulder, tapering to a tiny hole. Flakes to reverse, primarily around base of handle. An approximately 4" Y-shaped hairline on underside, continuing approximately 2 1/4" up base, where it forms a second Y. Light wear around midsection. Very minor rim wear. Flakes to interior. H 8 3/4".
