Very Rare Half-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, attributed Abraham Mead, Greenwich, CT, circa 1795, narrow-bodied, ovoid form with footed base and tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed star design surrounded by spots. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Crocker Farm, Inc., March 21, 2020, lot 48; Warren F. Hartmann Collection. Heavy chipping to base. Two in-the-firing surface chips to front, including an adhered piece of clay to front. A 1" in-the-firing surface flake to right side. Two pieces of adhered clay to handle and top of spout. In-the-firing crazing to surface. H 11".
