Extremely Rare Stoneware Apple Paperweight with Cobalt Apple Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, hand-modeled paperweight in the form of an apple with recessed, raised circular accent to center of top and underside, decorated on one side with a brushed design of an apple hanging from a branch within a circular border. Reverse with yellowish salt-over-Albany-slip glaze. Extraordinary form and decoration. Essentially as-made condition with in-the-firing contact marks to top and a minor in-the-firing to shoulder on reverse. H 2".
