Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt House Decoration, Stamped "A.O. WHITTEMORE. / HAVANA. N.Y," circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a house with door, five windows, a dormer, and two chimneys, atop a stylized ground. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Three short, vertical surface cracks at base, one in the form of an inverted fork, none of which extend through to the interior of the crock. A 1 1/4" line along edge of one handle. A few small rim chips. A salt drip to front. H 9".
