Ten-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "R.T. WILLIAMS / NEW GENEVA, PA," circa 1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, featuring R.T. Williams maker's stenciling surrounding a stenciled flourish with two small stenciled tulips above. Freehand stripe and stylized floral decoration to upper body. Base with freehand "10" flanked by dashes, underscored by a freehand stripe. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 3 3/4" rim chip to front. Fry to cobalt. A 5" hairline from rim on front. A 3" x 2" in-the-firing line on underside, forming a 3" vertical crack at base on front, which includes a small hole and a small reglued piece leading to a large surface chip on interior. Three small chips to one handle. Opposite handle with a 1" chip and a 3/4" surface crack with minor nick. H 20 3/4".
