Two-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "JC," possibly Crisco or Craven Family, NC origin, second half 19th century, semi-ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and angular rim molding, the surface covered in a salt glaze over a brownish, likely iron-dipped, ground. Stamped "JC 2" on top of rim. Chips and wear to rim. An approximately 3" x 1 1/8" in-the-firing loss to underside at edge. A filled 3/4" hole at shoulder. A minor in-the-firing ping to shoulder. A small piece of decoupage(?) adhered to shoulder. Two minor base chips, one of which is in-the-firing. Some light surface wear. H 11 1/8".
