Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars with Alexandria, VA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, a one-and-a-half-gallon jar and three-gallon jar featuring the stenciled advertising, "E.J. MILLER & SON / DEALERS IN / CHINA AND / GLASS WARE. / ALEXANDRIA VA.," with freehand decoration above and below. Three-gallon jar with large sealed and partially-filled crack on right side, extending across underside, as well as minor handle chips, staining, an in-the-firing contact mark to top of rim, and some light surface wear. Other jar with shallow rim chips, staining, and surface wear. H (of three-gallon jar) 13 5/8".
