Rare Glazed Redware Jar with Copper Slip Decoration and Rope-Twist Handles, attributed to Nathaniel Seymour, West Hartford, CT, late 18th or early 19th century, flare-bodied jar with angular shoulder, semi-squared rim, and rope-twist handles, the lead-glazed surface decorated with haphazard copper-slip brushwork over a vibrant green, red, and orange ground. Seymour's inclusion of twisted handles on this work is most unusual. Significant professional restoration to rim. Chipping around base. Wear to handles. Some wear to angled edge of shoulder. Some tight lines to body. Minor glaze flakes to base area and interior. Wear to inner rim for lid. H 10 1/4".
