Monumental Glazed Stoneware Figure of a Rooster with Rattlesnake, Signed and Dated "Rex Hogan / 09," Cleveland, GA origin, 2009, exceptionally-large, hand modeled and sculpted figure of a rooster in dynamic pose, clutching a rattlesnake in one claw atop a floral-decorated base. Surface covered in a multi-colored glaze. Extraordinary detail throughout. Base signed and dated "Rex Hogan / 09." Among Hogan's largest and most finely-executed rooster sculptures known. Exhibited: All Creatures Great and Small, Georgia Museum of Art, April 20, 2011 to October 16, 2012; American Folk Pottery: Art and Tradition, The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, Colonial Williamsburg, June 14, 2020 to December 31, 2022. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 25".
