Multi-Glazed Redware Tankard Pitcher, attributed to S. Bell & Sons or J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, cylindrical form with footed base, tooled shoulder, and flared rim, the surface dipped in a cream-colored slip, decorated with copper and manganese splotches, and covered in a clear lead glaze. A circular 3/8" ping to side of pitcher. A 3/8" flake of glaze loss near shoulder on front. Some wear to rim. A few small flecks of glaze loss below handle. Very minor base wear. H 9 3/8".
