Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Ravenswood, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "W.G. WATTS. / GENERAL MERCHANDISE / RAVENSWOOD. W. VA." Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Base with freehand "2" flanked by flourishes. Provenance: From a fifty-year West Virginia collection. Light surface wear. Spots of staining to surface. Some wear to cobalt. H 12 1/4".
