Very Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Ravenswood, WV Advertising, attributed to T.F. Reppert, Greensboro, PA, circa 1880, tapering jar with rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "H.L. VANMATRE. / & CO. / DRY GOODS AND / GROCERIES, / QUEEN'S AND STONEWARE / RAVENSWOOD. W. VA." Block stenciling to base of advertising and stenciled tulip motifs above. Provenance: From a fifty-year West Virginia collection. A small chip to interior of rim. H 8 1/4".
