Two Pieces of Stoneware with Cobalt Bird Decorations, attributed to the Fulper Pottery, Flemington, NJ, late 19th century, a four-gallon cylindrical crock with slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch with unusual feeding posture, including open mouth and raised leg; paired with a Bristol-slip-glazed jug with bird-on-branch motif. Crock with an 8 1/2" spider crack from rim on reverse, some exfoliation to shoulder on reverse, staining to reverse, base chips, some surface crazing to right of decoration, small in-the-firing surface flaws, several minor nicks to rim, and some wear to top of rim. Jug with a base chip, some clay residue to base, minor spout wear, and some staining. H (of crock) 11 1/4".
