BRAUN / BUFFALO, N.Y.", circa 1870, large-sized, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a house. Excellent detail throughout including nine windows, circular dormer, shingled roof, a door with pediment, chimney with chimney cap, and lightning rod with ball. Slip-trailed "6" to shoulder. One of the most artistic house designs that we have ever offered and an exceptionally rare decoration for this desirable Buffalo maker. The juncture of these two cracks formed a 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" reglued section, which has since been professionally restored. Additionally, an 8 3/4" professionally-restored crack from rim on reverse. A 1 3/8" in-the-firing iron ping to rim on reverse. Chips to interior of rim. Some staining. H 13 3/8".
