Glazed Redware Bird-Finialed Lid with Associated Jar, attributed to Anthony Bacher, Adams County, PA, circa 1855, wheel-thrown, slightly-domed lid with hand-modeled and applied figure of a bird feeding on a round flower blossom, both with incised details. Coggled edge to lid and wavy incised line to top. Surface covered in a dark-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Includes a similarly-glazed redware jar with tooled banding. Lid, attributed to Bacher, loosely fits a jar included in this lot by an unknown maker. Lid with loss to bird's beak, chips to flange on underside, a small chip to underside of edge, and very minor surface wear. Jar with small chips to interior of rim, minor surface wear, and minor crazing to underside. Dimensions (of lid) 4 3/4" x 2 3/4" ; H (of jar) 8 1/2".
