Scarce Two-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "N CLARK. PARKERSBURG," VA (now WV) origin, mid 19th century, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and squared spout, impressed with "N CLARK. PARKERSBURG" stamp below an elaborate two-gallon capacity mark. Slumped spout. Spout with a small chip, a few minor nicks, and a 2" diagonal surface line. A large in-the-firing contact mark to handle including a large chip. A large in-the-firing contact mark to front. A thin, approximately 8" tall X-shaped crack on right side of jug, extending onto underside and forming a thin spider crack on left side of jug, measuring approximately 8 1/2". H 14 1/2".
