Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Plate, attributed to William Diamond, Salem, NJ, circa 1833-1885, with coggled edge, the interior decorated with broad trails of straight and wavy yellow slip under a clear lead glaze. Reverse with early, likely 19th century, hand-written note on glued paper, reading, "?. . . Salem 1835 until 1885 / 55 years / the building cor of Howell / and Ward St was formerly a Fulling mill / 2 sons carried on the / business after their / father's death / Salem. N.J." Interior with some wear and a few small flakes. Two minor rim chips. Diam. 11".
