Three Pieces of Norton Family Stoneware with Cobalt Decoration, Bennington, VT origin, third quarter 19th century, a one-gallon jug with bird-on-branch decoration, stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON VT;" a three-gallon jug with bird-on-leaf decoration, stamped "E & L P NORTON / BENNINGTON VT:;" and a three-gallon crock with elaborate floral decoration, stamped "E & L P NORTON / BENNINGTON VT:." One-gallon jug with an in-the-firing ping to bird's eye, a chip to top of spout and wear to interior of spout, a large in-the-firing flake to handle, two minor in-the-firing base chips, and staining. Three-gallon jug with fully-restored handle, possible full restoration to squared spout molding, an in-the-firing chip to underside at edge, and light surface wear. Three-gallon crock with significant restoration to right and left sides, rim, handles, and underside, as well as unrestored horizontal crack in front.
