Two Three-Gallon Stoneware Crocks with Cobalt Bird Decorations, Northeastern U.S. origin, third quarter 19th century, one with cobalt bird-on-leaf decoration, stamped "E. & L.P. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1870, and another with related bird-on-leaf decoration, stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO / FORT EDWARD, N.Y." Norton crock with a crack from rim on front and reverse as well as a shorter crack on underside extending a short distance onto base, rim chips, a Y-shaped line below one handle, and a handle chip. Fort Edward crock with a hole drilled in underside, a large rim chip on reverse and small chip to interior of rim, a small chip to each handle, water glass staining to interior and exterior, surface scratches, and minor surface residue. H (of each) 10 1/2".
