Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Crocks, attributed to the Colvin Pottery, Jane Lew, WV, late 19th century, both of cylindrical form with tooled shoulders, semi-rounded rims, and applied lug handles, the two-gallon salt-glazed example with brushed cobalt decoration and freehand 2, paired with a three-gallon Albany-slip-glazed example with freehand 3 underscored by a freehand stripe. The three-gallon crock includes a large Albany-slip hand print on underside. Two-gallon crock with a 1 1/2" chip to interior of rim, shallow chipping to one handle, wear to opposite handle, two small in-the-firing pings to left side, and light surface wear. Three-gallon crock with chipping and wear to one handle, a chip and minor wear to other handle, and minor surface wear. H (of shorter) 9 3/4".
