Very Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Mold, Hagerstown, MD origin, possibly Henry Adam, early 19th century, wheel-thrown form with central tube and semi-squared rim, the lead-glazed surface decorated around the rim and cavetto with a wavy trails of cream-colored slip and straight trails of manganese slip. Brushed manganese slip to tip of tube. The rim/shoulder decoration on this example is closely-related to that found on a number of bowls attributed to Adam. This work is the first slip-decorated mold from the Hagerstown potting school that we have offered. Very nice condition with an approximately 3 1/4" hairline from rim, minor chipping to tube, and other minor wear. H 1 7/8" ; Diam. 9 1/8".
