Scarce Lidded Redware Jar with Folky Manganese Decoration, probably Pennsylvania origin, early to mid 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, coggled rim, and original domed lid, the jar decorated with a folky manganese stripe-and-spot design around the body. Lid decorated around the knob with zig-zagging manganese stripes. Underside of jar incised "10". Underside of lid incised "20". Inverted 3" Y-shaped crack from rim. Two additional cracks from rim, measuring 3 1/2" and 3". Tight Y-shaped crack on underside, continuing onto base and running horizontally. 7/8" shallow flake to shoulder, probably an in-the-firing contact mark. Chips to lid, and a hairline to lid, including two shallow chips to finial and wear to finial. H (including lid) 8".
