Two Stoneware Crocks with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1870, a two-gallon crock with slip-trailed bird-on-stump decoration, stamped "RIEDINGER & CAIRE / POUGHKEEPSIE-NY," paired with a two-gallon crock with slip-trailed dove-on-branch decoration, stamped "FRANK B. NORTON / WORCESTER, MASS." Poughkeepsie crock with restoration to rim and shoulder area, large area of restoration to left of bird, and network of unrestored cracks in underside. Worcester crock with restoration to rim and maker's mark area on front as well as a large area on reverse, and unrestored bubbling to cobalt. H (of each) approx. 9 1/2".
