Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, PA origin, mid 19th century, an ovoid churn with freehand "7," attributed to William Porter, Oil Creek; paired with a four-gallon jar with brushed spotted floral decoration, probably Petersburg, PA, including two key-tip impressions at shoulder. Provenance: Estate of author and historian, Nancy Shedd, Petersburg, PA. Churn with misshapen rim and chips to one handle. Jar missing one handle, with chips and wear to opposite handle, loss to rim, and chips and wear to rim. H (of churn) 18 5/8".
