Rare Salesman's Sample Stoneware Chicken Waterer with Boston Advertising, Embossed "PATD. APR. 7 85 MFD BY W.R. & CO. AKRON, O.," circa 1900, molded, cylindrical waterer with attached base, marked "EASTERN CLAY GOODS CO. / 65 OLIVER STREET, / BOSTON" in black over a Bristol slip ground. Waterer embossed with maker's mark and patent date. Underside with pencil inscription, "Saml Florence Sargent / Conegel(?) / NH / RFD #4." Excellent condition. One rubber foot replaced with a different style foot. Dimensions: 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" x 2 3/4".
