Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitchers, Mid-Atlantic origin, 19th century, an ovoid two-gallon pitcher with horizontal tulip decoration around midsection and swag-and-hanging-flower motif around collar, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1835; paired with a half-gallon pitcher with swag-and-hanging-flower motif, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1885. Two-gallon pitcher with a 6 3/4" crack from rim on reverse, a 5" crack from rim to right of spout, a 7 1/2" diagonal hairline to side of pitcher, a spider crack on underside continuing onto base, including a 5" vertical line ascending from base, a chip where spout meets rim, heavy chipping to base, a recessed in-the-firing contact mark to reverse including a piece of adhered clay, and a crack in base of handle including two small chips. Half-gallon pitcher with a 1 1/2" chip on underside, a 1 3/8" chip to side of rim, a thin 3 1/2" crack from rim on reverse, and a spout chip. H 13 1/4".
