Scarce Flint Enamel Figure of a Deer, Stamped "Stamped "Lyman, Fenton & Co. / FENTON'S ENAMEL PATENTED 1849 / Bennington, VT," circa 1849-1858, molded figure of a reclining deer on base with hollow tree stump and applied clay "coleslaw" to head and base, the surface decorated in brown, olive, and orange over a cream-colored ground. Incised details to neck and hooves. Impressed Lyman, Fenton & Co. maker's mark on underside. Both ears restored. Missing antlers. A short firing line to snout and top of base. L 10 3/4" ; W 5 1/2" ; H 8 1/4".
