Scarce Assembled Pair of Glazed Redware Dog Figures, attributed to John Bell, Waynesboro, PA, circa 1840-1880, each molded in the form of a reclining dog with curled tail atop a rectangular base, decorated with sponged manganese over a yellow clay ground and covered in a clear lead glaze. One dog is slightly larger. Smaller dog includes carved out area between front legs, incised paws and mouth, and impressed eyes. Larger dog with base chip, including traces of old red paint to chip and underside. Smaller dog in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Dimensions (of larger dog): L 2 3/8" x H 2 1/4".
