Rare Glazed Pottery Pitcher with Relief Cherub Pattern, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'" Waynesboro, PA, circa 1840-1880, molded pitcher with upswept spout and ornamental handle with thumbrest, decorated on two sides with different designs of cherubs in various poses below a grapevine. Appealing mottled celadon coloration. Underside impressed with John Bell maker's mark. One of a small number of surviving examples by John Bell produced in this pattern. Provenance: Horst Auction, May 1, 1999. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 9".
