Large-Sized Stoneware Keg-Form "GIN" Cooler with Brown Slip Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, early 19th century, keg-form cooler with raised banding, circular bunghole, and small, circular opening in top, the shoulder inscribed "GIN" in yellowish-brown slip. Yellowish-brown slip highlights to banding and surrounding bunghole. Incised Masonic symbol on top. A long horizontal crack at midsection. Two pieces of adhered clay to midsection. A 7/8" rim chip and small rim chip. A small in-the-firing chip to shoulder area. A shallow chip to front of bunghole and a small chip to interior of bunghole. A tiny base chip and short, very minor line at base. H 18 3/4".
