Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "NICHOLS & BOYNTON / BURLINGTON.VT," circa 1854-1855, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed vine featuring scrolled tips and a fan-shaped blossom, accented with spots. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Very nice condition with a few minor base chips, small spots of surface wear, some staining to reverse and right side, and two chips to interior of spout. H 18".
