Rare Glazed Redware Mug, Stamped "HF," Henry Fare, Mt. Aetna, Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, PA, circa 1861-1888, ovoid form with footed base and cylindrical collar, embellished with coggling to the foot, impressed asterisks to the body and collar, incised wavy lines to the upper body, and chip-carved scalloping to the rim. Surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Collar impressed "HF." Literature: For a closely-related example at the time owned by potter/collector Lester Breininger, see The Magazine Antiques, January 1990. A large loss to handle. Two very large flakes to body and two small flakes to body. Two hairlines ascending from base, measuring 5" and 4". Two tiny nicks to foot. Minor rim wear. H 8 3/4".
