Three Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Northeastern U.S. origin, first quarter 19th century, a two-gallon ovoid jar with brushed floral motif on one side and foliate motif on reverse, incised "XI" on top of rim, NJ origin; a one-gallon ovoid jar with brushed cross motif on front and reverse, Albany, NY origin, possibly Caleb Matthews; and a two-gallon ovoid jar with brushed stylized foliate motifs on front and reverse, NY State origin. NJ jar with long crack from rim, rim chips, a small chip to molding at base of collar, in-the-firing contact marks to surface, and wear to interior. One-gallon jar with large base chips, a large spider crack on underside extending up one side, large in-the-firing contact marks/flaws, and two rim chips. Two-gallon jar with rim chips, a large iron ping to shoulder, and a few short cracks from rim. H (of smallest) 11".
