Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher, Stamped "BOSTON," Jonathan Fenton or Frederick Carpenter, Boston/Charlestown, MA, late 18th or early 19th century, ovoid pitcher with narrow base, heavily-tooled shoulder, and flared rim, impressed at the shoulder with small-sized "BOSTON" maker's mark. Salt-glazed surface with iron wash to interior. A lesser-seen form in Boston stoneware production, this pitcher features attractive vase-like potting and thin-walled construction. Restoration to areas of rim and a few unrestored rim chips. A 7/8" hairline from rim on reverse. A miniscule nick to handle. Some shallow chipping to base and an in-the-firing base chip. H 11".
