One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "O.L. & A.K. BALLARD / BURLINGTON, VT," circa 1856-1867, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a thick, slip-trailed design of a flower with spiraling blossom. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Very nice condition with only in-the-firing flaws, including the following: some light bubbling to cobalt, a minor iron ping to spout, some in-the-firing clay residue to underside and base on reverse, a few minor base chips, contact marks to base, and some mottling to clay. H 12 1/2".
