Rare Glazed Stoneware Figure of a Squirrel, probably Philadelphia, PA origin, circa 1850-1880, molded figure of a squirrel feeding on a nut, seated on a tree stump. Incised details to paws, nose, and nut. Surface covered in Albany slip with overlying salt glaze. A cobalt-decorated example of this form was sold at Sotheby's, The Collection of the Late Pauline Heilman, York, Pennsylvania, July 16, 1982, lot 493. Very nice condition with a chip to one ear and a minuscule nick to stump. H 4 3/4".
